DASHILL SMITH
Dashill Smith, a New York native, “… loves Hip-hop, Jazz, Soul and
anything that speaks to my spirit… an easy going music fiend who just
can't live without sounds… either listening to or making music in
between bedtime.” ‘Dash’ – as he is affectionately known by his peers –
practices what he preaches, performing in a variety of genres and always
with his trademark brand of positive ‘on fire’ energy and creativity.
A member of “one of the greatest hip-hop groups ever assembled,” Phace
Oricalz, Dash is the “Freestyle Battle-Rhyme Juggarnaut/Music historian/
Jazz Trumpet Improvisation specialist of the group” - traits that are
equally apparent in his work with his Jazz Improv ensemble, the Inertia
Trio. Dash’s need for creative output brings a depth of expression and
covers as wide an expanse of sonic temperaments as the infinity of
various combinations of rhythmic, melodic and textural exploration will
allow.
Dashill’s talent has earned him appearances and/or studio dates with of
a variety of artists including, Russell Gunn, Kebbi Williams, Mausiki
Scales, Anton Harris, Venuseven and others. Definitely a major
contributor to the evolutionary development of modern black music, Dash
continues to bless the scene with his catalystic presence.
